Michael Vance is Professor of History at St. Mary's University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. His research focuses on early 19th century Scottish emigration and settlement, with an added interest in Scottish overseas identity. He has co-edited books with Marjorie Harper of University of Edinburgh and Scott McLean of Queen's University, UK. Michael lives in Halifax.
